The RSS and google reader is hard to navigate. I had some trouble getting some of the sites into my subscription list. I read a couple of other blogs and new feeds but I couldn't figure out how to make them appear. After I subscribed it was a little easier. Finally my friend discovered that you can type what you wanted in the search field and this moved the process along quicker. I have add some social blogs that I follow as well as science and math instructions blogs.
It may shorten time you would normally be navigating on the web to see items you read frequently. I am not sure of how I would use this in my classroom on any type of regular basis with the students.
The administrations might be able to use this for sending out information that would be assessable from anywhere even when email is not.

Welcome to 11 things
This blog is for my 11 things class. I will be documenting my learning as I go along this summer! I am hoping to get it all done while the family is out and about!
I am hoping to blog next school year with my students!
This is my second blog, the first is mylifeshouldbeonrealitytv.blogspot.com. It is about my family and the quirky things that happen to us! And really there are always funny things happening here!

Thing #7 Google tools
This thing is about google tools. I really like the all but some of them ex. calendar I already have with my iPhone so I didn't really need this one. I like the Google documents and the google notebook
Google documents is a document tool that lets people collaborate on a project without having to use the server. I LOVE this! I think that would be super convenient for students in my class to be about to work together on a project (power point) without having to log on to each other's server account OR saving it to the desktop and having to get on the same computer.
Google notebook is GREAT it is depressing that Google is not supporting it anymore and so new users can't sign on and start using it!
Google calendar is a good way to make a group calendar that people can log on to an see from anywhere. I think this would be good for lesson planning and to use with your team for events. My team is departmentalized so it might be good to put all the testing and important dates in one place so that we can see if we schedule for example 2 tests on the same day.
I like it!

Thing #6
Mash ups
I like these, I particularly like the bookr app. This app has so many ways to use it in the classroom. The kids could do projects about a science topic and present it in this format to make it different from a PowerPoint. They could work together to research what they want to present on their page then the class could make a book that you could publish and buy for your classroom. SUPER COOL!
I also like the trading cards. What a neat way to make vocab cards, cards for projects (ex different habitats) . They could find a pic to make their cards, save the cards then you could even put them on the activboard flipchart! The possibilities are endless.

Thing # 5 Flickr
I have never used Flickr before I normally just look up things straight from google. I am so happy that I did this course because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures. I typed in erosion which is a very hard thing to talk about with the kids because it is a slow process and sort of abstract to them. The pictures I got were awesome. They had all types of erosion that would spark discussions!!
Check out this picture of a sea arch! My class could talk about how it was formed and what would it look like in the years to come. SOOOO cool!

Thing 3 setting up the blog and avatar
The blog was easy to set up as I have another one already. The tricky part was the avatar! I tried all sorts of ways, add a picture but that didn't work. I had the wrong format. Finally I went around by adding a the html through the gadget marked html. HAD I read all the way down the instructions page I would have gotten to the part that told me exactly how to add a picture... next time I will read ALL the instructions!!!

Thing # 2 Life Long Learner
I think I am a life long learner. I like to go to trainings and tend to stretch myself where I can. I think the easiest for me of the 7 1/2 habits is using technology. I think that I have a pretty good grasp of some techie things. I have my own blog already in addition to this one. I don't shy away from something new and innovative and would like to bring more of that into my classroom. The hardest thing for me would be beginning with the end in mind. I seem to jump into thing without thinking where I would like to end up. This is probably why I have tons of unfinished things going on! That is one thing I will be focusing on this summer.
